Trump threatens Iran with ‘very severe’ strike if link to attempted flydubai crash is proven

Trump threatens a severe military response if investigators establish an Iranian link to the flydubai FZ1073 incident, while the UAE says the investigation remains ongoing.
US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with a “very severe” military response if investigators establish an Iranian connection to the security incident involving flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. UAE authorities have stressed that the investigation is continuing and warned against speculation before its findings are announced.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the flight was diverted and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia after an altercation occurred in the flight deck and flydubai crew members travelling on board intervened to secure the aircraft.
Official UAE investigation
UAE Attorney-General Hamad Al Shamsi ordered a specialized Public Prosecution team to investigate the circumstances and causes of the incident in coordination with the relevant aviation and security authorities.
The UAE said investigators are examining all possible motives, including whether the incident had any connection to terrorist activity or intent and whether it involved prior planning or direction. The UAE has not announced evidence establishing an Iranian connection.
Trump: investigation continues
Asked about a possible Iranian connection, Trump said the information he was hearing pointed to that possibility while emphasizing that the investigation was still underway. Asked what would happen if Iranian involvement were established, he threatened a severe strike.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Reuters it was too early to determine whether there was an Iranian connection. Reuters reported that Israeli security officials had not identified Iranian involvement at that stage.
Emergency landing in Saudi Arabia
The aircraft landed safely in Tabuk. UAE and Saudi authorities have been investigating the incident, while the UAE has urged the public and media to rely on official information and avoid unverified claims until the investigation is completed.
