Lindsey Graham Dismisses Rumors of UAE President’s Death After Meeting: Mohamed bin Zayed Is Alive and Well

Euro Times / Stockholm
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has firmly denied circulating social media rumors claiming the death of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, confirming that he met with him for an hour and a half and describing him as alive, healthy, and mentally sharp.
Graham’s statement came only hours after unverified reports spread online alleging the death of the UAE President. In a detailed post on his official account, the senator made clear that he had personally met Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi and emphasized that he is “not only alive, but well and as sharp as I’ve ever seen him.”
According to Graham, the meeting was both enjoyable and informative, focusing on what he described as a historic moment facing the region. He praised the UAE leadership’s vision in building a modern Islamic country integrated into the global economy in a mutually beneficial manner for both Emirati citizens and international partners.
The senator also highlighted the UAE’s decision to join the Abraham Accords, calling it the biggest change in the Middle East during his lifetime. He described the country’s efforts to integrate the region with the broader international community as one of the bravest and most consequential decisions made by any Middle Eastern leader.
Addressing those spreading what he characterized as false narratives, Graham warned against attacking the UAE and its president for what he considers the right course of action. He stressed that such actions have not gone unnoticed and could undermine what he sees as a historic opportunity to reshape the Middle East.
Graham also touched on the broader regional landscape, contrasting reform-oriented visions with what he described as the hardline approach of Iran’s ruling establishment. He argued that the future of the region depends on embracing openness and reform rather than returning to older confrontational models.
The senator concluded his remarks by announcing that he was heading to Saudi Arabia to meet the Crown Prince as part of a regional tour focused on the Middle East’s ongoing transformations.
Graham’s public statement represents the first direct confirmation from a senior U.S. official following the brief circulation of rumors regarding the UAE President’s health, effectively countering the claims through his in-person account of their meeting.
