Mojahedin-e Khalq Claims Targeted Attack Near Khamenei Compound in Tehran and Clashes with Revolutionary Guard Forces

Euro Times / Tehran
The Iranian opposition group Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) announced in a statement that what it described as “large-scale clashes” took place with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near a heavily fortified security complex in Tehran, referred to in opposition discourse as the “Spider House,” which includes facilities linked to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several key state institutions.
According to the statement received by Euro Times, the clashes began at dawn on Monday, February 23, and continued until the afternoon hours. The organization claimed that more than 100 of its members were killed or arrested during the confrontation, while also alleging “heavy losses” among IRGC forces inside the Motahari security complex.
The group stated that the compound houses offices and residences associated with senior regime figures and major governing bodies, including the Guardian Council, the Assembly of Experts, the Supreme National Security Council, and the Ministry of Intelligence. It described the area as being protected by multilayered security arrangements involving thousands of military and intelligence personnel.
The statement further alleged that individuals inside the complex assisted in disabling several surveillance cameras at the beginning of the clashes. It also claimed that ambulances and helicopters were observed moving intensively in the area during the morning hours, alongside the deployment of special security units and the closure of schools and surrounding streets near Pasteur Street in central Tehran.
According to the organization, approximately 150 of its members managed to withdraw safely from the second security perimeter surrounding the compound by late Monday evening, while arrests and security operations reportedly continued across different parts of Tehran following the incident.
It is worth noting that the Mojahedin-e Khalq, led by Maryam Rajavi, is one of the most prominent Iranian opposition groups operating abroad. The organization regularly issues statements describing activities inside Iran; however, independent on-the-ground verification of such claims remains limited due to strict media and security restrictions within the country.
