U.S. EA-18G Growler Electronic Warfare Jets Reportedly Arrive in Jordan with Advanced Jamming Pods

Several U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft have reportedly flown to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (Azraq Air Base) in Jordan, amid broader American military movements in the region.
Observers noted that some of the arriving Growlers were equipped with the legacy AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming system, as well as the newer AN/ALQ-249 Next Generation Jammer, which represents a significant upgrade in electronic attack capabilities.
The EA-18G Growler is the U.S. Navy’s primary platform for electronic warfare and suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD), designed to disrupt hostile radar networks, communications, and surface-to-air missile systems.
The introduction of the ALQ-249 system is considered a major step forward, allowing more powerful and flexible jamming against modern air-defense threats compared to earlier systems.
While no official statement has yet confirmed the specific mission of the aircraft in Jordan, the deployment comes as Washington continues reinforcing its regional posture through airpower and electronic warfare assets.
